Each year, during the week
before Labor Day, the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada hosts Burning
Man, an eclectic arts festival. Totem has been sponsoring a Burning Man theme
camp since 1998.
In 2008, we’re delighted to
be joining forces once again with The Red Nose District.
Totem will provide a place to relax between shows, enjoy a beverage, and meet
with friends new and old. Totem’s role is similar to the Center Camp Café’s
role for the rest of Black Rock City – we’ll serve as the village’s civic
center.
TOTEM Massage & Chill resides
in the most luxuriant environment on the playa. Our Big Tent is HUGE - 14’
high, 50’ wide, and 100’ long. The exterior is an extravagant array of fire
colors. The interior is dust-free, air-conditioned, and lined with soft white
fabric to create a comfortable and relaxing environment. It's THE place to be
during a dust storm ... unless you actually like breathing dust, of course.
What will we be doing with
4000 sq. ft. of indoor chill space?

The 200-seat TOTEM Chill space will occupy 50% of our tent space.
TOTEM Massage, our healing center, will occupy another 40%.
The remaining 10% will be devoted to beverage service and our sound system.

TOTEM beverage service during the day includes coffee (hot or iced,
according to the outdoor temperature), ice water, lemonade and chai.
At night, we'll be serving cocktails.

During the day we’ll be spinning our unique mix of desert massage music.
Evenings will feature sexy-groove downtempo dance music (sorry - no house
/club music here!). Late nights will soothe your soul with a journey into
deep space.
